Coins

The very first coin in Hipomi's collection is one that a friend brought her in December 2000. Now there are several coins in her collection box, and, in May 2002, she finally managed to get an ancient Roman coin - 1,800 years old.

Roman Coin
Otacilla Severa,

A silver coin of the Roman imperial government One of the animal pattern series, made as to commemorate the first 1,000 years of the Roman empire. Otacilla Severa might have been the first hippo fan, 1,800 years ago. A Roman soldier in Africa put some silver coins in a pot and buried them under the ground. The soldier never came back, and the coins had been waiting to be found for hundreds of years. There are several types of hippos on these coins.
